"Crew Chief" concept appears to be inspired by the Gladiator truck.
In just a few weeks, thousands of hardcore Jeep enthusiasts will head to Moab, Utah for the annual Easter Jeep Safari. This year is a tad more special because the event celebrates its 50th anniversary, and its continued popularity should keep it going for another 50 years. Jeep will once again take the opportunityto show off wild concepts, two of which it is teasing today.
First up is the Trailcat concept, which is based on the Jeep Wrangler. The teaser sketch reveals the Trailcat’s front end, complete with a custom hood with lots of vents, bright green paint, “Trailcat” decals, and a blacked-out grille. The concept rideson what appears to be beadlock wheels with green, color-matched outer beadlock rings.
The second concept is the Jeep Crew Chief, which looks likea follow up on the J-12 concept that first made an appearance at the 2012 Easter Jeep Safari. Like the J-12, the Crew Chief shows hints of a “rhino” front fascia inspired by the vintage Gladiator truck (built from 1962 to 1971). The Crew Chief will likely be based on the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.
Jeep confirmed it will have a total of seven concepts at this year’s event, which takes place from March 19-27. That said, expect to see modified versions of its other models including the Renegade, Cherokee, and Grand Cherokee.
