American-made supercar to cost almost $300,000.
Designer Henrik Fisker will unveil a new sports car at the 2015 Detroit auto show next month. Dubbed The Force 1, the new car will be the only American sports car in its price category of just under $300,000 USD, according to Fisker.
Riding on a front-mid-engine rear-drive layout, The Force 1 will be powered by one of “the world’s highest output natural aspirated engine in a road car,” according to Fisker. No other engine details have been revealed. Transmission choices include a six-speed manual or a paddle-shift automatic. The Force 1 will also use an active suspension.
Exterior styling details include a long hood and fastback rear glass and wide fender flares front and rear. The Force 1 features Ultra Thin Ventilated (UTV) laser blade taillights. The body is made from carbon fiber. A set of 21-inch wheels are wrapped in high-performance Pirelli P Zero tires. Inside, the luxurious interior offers seating for two occupants.
Development work is said to be in conjunction with a yet-to-be-named American race car driver and his team.
“I believe there is room in the market for a daily driver that embodies all the attributes of the best track racing car, and the comfort of a luxurious sports car” Fisker said in a release. “Extreme power, great aesthetics and pristine handling make for a superior ride in Force 1, an American Super Car.”
Beginning in April 2016, Fisker plans to build up to 50 examples of The Force 1, which is said to cost just under $300,000 USD. Assembly will take place in Michigan.
Fisker is known for his work designing exotic cars, including the BMW Z8, Aston Martin DB9, and Aston Martin V8 Vantage. The designer also penned the Fisker Karma that bears his name, as well as the Artega GT. More recently, Fisker worked with Galpin to design the Rocket, a heavily customized Ford Mustang.
