The Supra is back, baby
Toyota chose this year’s Geneva Motor Show to reveal a car we’ve been waiting for years to see: the new Supra. Well, sort of. Toyota actually revealed the Supra-based GR Supra Racing Concept, meaning the wait to see the new Supra road car continues. Toyota has yet to announce that it actually plans to take the GR Supra racing, but it will release the concept as a new car in the Gran Turismo Sport video game next month.
Still, it’s understandable that Supra fans may be a little disappointed. We all wanted to see the car we could drive, not one created for a video game. The good news is, based on a report from last month, it sounds like the big reveal is only a couple weeks away at the New York auto show. And while some of the bodywork may change, the general shape of the new Supra is still there. Some of the FT-1 concept’s wild styling has been toned down, but it’s still basically the same car that Toyota dealers will soon be selling.
While we wait, Toyota put together a preview video that shows the GR Supra Racing Concept actually driving. It’s all CGI, so it isn’t the real thing, but there’s something legitimately exciting about seeing the car on the move even if it’s only a rendering. Even if you’ve already seen all the photos from the show, go ahead and check out the video, too.
