The 2016 Nissan Altima has been spied again — this time, in Motor Trend’s own backyard. Associate online editor Austin Lott spotted this Nissan Altima prototype attempting to blend in with the rest of Southern California traffic. Though the camouflage is still thick, we can see a bit more of the taillights and headlights.
The 2016 Altima will grow in size and is also expected to inherit some design cues from its bigger brother, the Maxima. Some of those cues can be seen in the taillights, which are arranged horizontally and slant inward just like the Maxima’s. Though we didn’t capture much of the Altima’s front end, it appears the headlights may also be similar to those on the Maxima. In addition, we can see the corner of the Altima’s new corporate “V-Motion” grille.
Expect the 2016 Altima to get mostly carryover engines, though the CVT is likely to be revised. Also look for the new infotainment system that debuted in the 2016 Maxima to appear in its smaller sibling. The 2016 Nissan Altima should be revealed soon, possibly going on sale as early as this fall.
