Special-edition tC starts at $23,985
Toyota is letting Scion and the tC coupe go out in style with a final special-edition model called the Release Series 10.0, which will be shown at the 2016 New York auto show. After announcing that it will kill off the youth-oriented Scion brand, Toyota also announced that the tC will go out of production by August 2016.
For the Scion tC Release Series 10.0, the automaker partnered with Kei Miura, a designer that’s big in the Japan car scene. Available exclusively in Barcelona Red, the tC Release Series 10.0 comes with a front lip spoiler, rocker panels, rear lower spoiler, and a deck lid spoiler. The car’s badges have been blacked out to complement the red exterior while the alloy wheels are painted in gloss black. TRD performance lowering springs and a TRD dual exhaust are also standard for improved performance and a more resonant engine note.
Inside, the car receives a two-tone black and red theme with seats that feature red accent stitching. The shift boot, parking brake cover, and steering wheel also get red accent stitching. The tC Release Series 10.0 receives exclusive carpeted floor and cargo mats and red seatbelts. Only 1,200 examples will be made and will be available starting in June. A Release Series 10.0 with a six-speed manual transmission starts at $23,985 USD including destination, while a model equipped with a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters costs $25,135 USD.
