At the upcoming Tokyo motor show, Subaru will debut what it calls a design study for the next-generation Impreza. Also headed to the show is a new Subaru Viziv Future Concept, which explores the future of autonomous driving technologies.
The automaker released a few teaser images of the Impreza 5-Door Concept, showing off a sleek new shape and a refreshed front fascia that could make its way to the next Subaru Impreza. We don’t know much about the concept model, although Subaru says it strongly adheres to the automaker’s Dynamic & Solid design theme and “expresses value exceeding its class.”
The new Subaru Viziv Future Concept will also make its world premiere at the show, and despite its fun orange wheels, new lights, and the enormous bike rack attached to its back, the most interesting parts of the concept SUV are underneath the surface. Subaru has combined the capabilities of its current EyeSight safety system with all-direction radar sensing to monitor traffic on all sides of the road.
According to the automaker, the vehicle can autonomously drive itself on the freeway and park itself at home or in public parking lots. The model is also equipped with a next-generation hybrid power unit that uses a downsized turbo engine and all-wheel drive.
The Impreza 5-Door Concept and Viziv Future Concept will debut at the Tokyo motor show, which runs from October 28 through November 8.
