While the world may still be in the throes of winter, Smart is looking toward springtime with its latest limited-edition model. The Smart ForTwo Edition Flashlight Cabrio makes its official global debut at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show before it goes on sale worldwide later this month.
For the special edition, Smart reserved two exterior color options, including a matte crystal white and deep black. Both feature a lava orange tridion safety cell and door mirror caps for contrast. Special features include a black radiator grille, black alloy wheels, H7 projection headlights with a titanium-colored background, and the edition logo in the mirror triangle.
The Edition Flashlight is available with three engine options, a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine rated at 71 hp, an 84-hp 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo, or an electric motor rated at roughly 74 horses. The new model also features a standard soft-touch automatic gearshift.
Based off the Passion line, the special-edition Smart ForTwo interior boasts black leather seats with black fabric inserts on the backrests, orange contrast stitching, and an orange stripe on the kneepad. The dashboard and leather steering wheel continue with the orange stitching. Exclusive “Edition Flashlight” floor mats complete the interior.
Pricing for the Euro-spec Smart ForTwo Edition Flashlight starts at around $20,700, and tops out at just over $27,000 for the electric model. However, pricing, equipment, and configurations may vary in different global markets. The limited edition can be ordered starting this month, with the first deliveries reaching customers this April. An entirely new generation of the Smart ForTwo arrives in global markets later this year.
