Could preview the upcoming G80 midsize sedan
Genesis will be on hand at the 2016 New York auto show with its new New York concept. Teased in the following image and video, the Genesis New York concept is yet another hint of what to expect from the new brand’s styling direction.
The teaser image reveals the concept’s front fascia, which closely mimics the 2017 Genesis G90, the brand’s flagship sedan unveild earlier this year at the 2016 Detroit auto show. The blacked-out grille features a honeycomb pattern that is also used for what appears to be the front fender’s air vents.
Meanwhile, the video reveals a tad more, including the concept’s sleek, narrow taillights, curvy haunches, and a detailed shot of the headlights.
According to Genesis, the New York concept is a four-door sports sedan “expressing the design direction that will distinguish forthcoming Genesis products.”
Based on previous speculation and statements from the automaker, there’s a good chance the New York concept previews the upcoming G80, which essentially replaces the current Hyundai Genesis sedan. The G80, along with the flagship G90, is just one of at least six vehicles Genesis plans to unveil by 2021. Also in the pipeline is the Genesis G70, an entry-level sports sedan targeted for the BMW 3 Series segment.
