Spark looks adorable when it tries to be tough
As the appeal of traditional sedans fades, automakers are turning their attention to small crossovers, and Chevrolet is no exception. Take the tiny Chevy Spark, slap on some off-road skidplates and roof rails, and you’ve got yourself a crossover. Or at least something that kind of resembles one.
It’s called the 2017 Chevrolet Spark Activ, and it goes on sale during the first quarter of next year. The Spark Activ features a unique look from the standard model thanks to round fog lamps, a unique grille pattern, rocker moldings and special fender trim, roof rails, and a new 15-inch wheel design. The Activ model also gets a revised suspension, increasing the ride height by a mere 0.4 inch. Expect the same 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine from the traditional Spark to make its way to the slightly lifted model.
Inside the cabin, you’ll find black leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, 4G LTE technology, Sirius XM satellite radio, and a 7-inch MyLink touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The model also features a rearview camera, cruise control, and remote keyless entry.
Prices start at $16,945 USD when equipped with a manual transmission or $18,045 USD with the CVT. Although it’s still very affordable, the Activ is quite a bit pricier than the standard 2017 Spark, which starts at $13,875 USD with the manual and $14,975 USD with the CVT transmission.
