Toyota Tweaks its Flagship Sedan
The Toyota Avalon, the brand’s flagship sedan, entered its fourth generation for the 2013 model year and introduced a new hybrid model, along with a redesigned exterior and interior. During the 2015 Chicago Auto Show, Toyota will show off the 2016 Avalon, which features a retuned suspension, updated styling, and a host of new and upgraded convenience features.
For the 2016 model year, the Avalon will be available in five trim levels: the XLE, XLE PLUS, XLE Premium, Limited, and Touring. Those looking for a hybrid, however, have the choice of three trims — XLE Plus, XLE Premium, and Limited — that add luxury and new technology. Toyota will offer two suspension systems for the 2016 Avalon, catering to customers looking for a dynamic driving experience as well as those seeking a plush ride.
In terms of styling, the new Toyota Avalon will feature a wider, lower front grille, narrow upper grille, newly designed turn signals that replace the foglights, updated LED taillights, and a chrome rear bumper accent. The light gray interior boasts gray accent stitching.
Customers who don’t need all the bells and whistles can opt for the XLE or XLE Plus models, which now offer standard redesigned 17-inch alloy wheels, a 7-inch Entune Audio Plus infotainment screen, a premium wood-grain dash, and a tire-specific tire pressure monitoring system. For the XLE Premium, technology upgrades come standard in the form of Entune Premium audio with Navigation and App Suite and Qi Wireless Charging.
Those looking wanting increased luxury and driving dynamics should look at the Touring model, as new standard features include 18-inch dark-gray painted alloy wheels, a sportier front fascia, updated LED headlights and LED DRLs, and Touring badging. The top-of-the-line Limited model will offer standard 18-inch alloy Super Chrome wheels on gas-powered models, and hybrid models will feature 17-inch alloy Super Chrome wheels. The 2016 Toyota Avalon Limited will also offer optional advanced safety features, including automatic high-beam headlights, Toyota’s Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Pre-Collision System, and lane-departure warning.
The 2016 Toyota Avalon will go on sale this fall.
